Emil Bainhardt (born in Yugoslavia) drew with color pencils and painted with watercolor ever since he can remember. He immigrated to the United States in his early teens and settled in Sacramento, CA. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Davis and his Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of the Pacific.

While pursuing studies in healthcare he continued to draw and paint. From the start, he was interested in academic realism and received a solid foundation in rendering and oil painting from painter and sculptor Kerry Crutcher. He also studied techniques of the Old Masters at the Schuler School of Fine Art in Baltimore, MD.

Currently he works as a home care physical therapist. Although he has completed a number of seascape and still life paintings, Emil's interest remains focused on figures and portraits where he invariably melds his skill as a clinician with that of an artist. He considers himself as much an illustrator as he does a painter, who in his visual statement, is concerned with a momentary glimpse of light in space and time. Recently, his artistic efforts have been concentrated on portraying dancers at a local ballet school. In an era of ever changing fads and fashions, paintings of ballet dancers fulfills a longing for a lasting visual aesthetic - a style that remains unique in the world, and forever new.
